SafeRides Boundary Extended to Serve North Lincoln Avenue
MTD is temporarily extending its SafeRides service boundary after 1:00 AM to include bus stops along North Lincoln Avenue.
MTD Fall 2020 Service Changes

MTD is reducing scheduled service effective Friday, August 21. The reductions primarily impact routes serving campus, and late-night service after 1:00 am. The decision was made after extensive analysis of service demand, workforce availability, and new demands related to adequate COVID-19 pandemic response.

As confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to spread across the United States, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) is taking several steps to better protect all employees and passengers.
MTD Provides Online Learn-to-Ride Resources for Unit 4, District 116 Families
While both Champaign Unit 4 and Urbana School District 116 Middle and High Schools are still devising their Back To School plans, MTD is happy to announce that virtual Learn-to-Ride resources are available on our Schools page at mtd.org.
MTD On Board with Phase 4 of Restore Illinois
In accordance with Governor J.B. Pritzker’s five phase Restore Illinois Plan, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District continues to offer public transportation as a means to access not only essential services within the community, but the evolving and distinct business, education, and recreation activities that are reopening under the Plan.
Temporary Rear Door Boarding on MTD Buses

MTD will be temporarily implementing rear door boarding effective Wednesday, March 25. Passengers will be directed to enter and exit the vehicle via the rear doors until further notice. Those using mobility devices, who have mobility or vision impairments, are boarding with strollers, or have small children should continue using the front door.
MTD Transit Will Operate as an Essential Service During Shelter in Place Order

Governor J.B. Pritzker has issued a "Stay at Home" Order beginning Saturday, March 21, 2020. This order will restrict all non-essential travel and business across the State. MTD will continue to serve those in need of essential transportation services.

MTD Providing Free Rides

In light of the rapidly developing public health situation with COVID-19, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) will be temporarily offering free rides to all passengers for MTD’s fixed-route bus service, ADA Paratransit, and C-CARTS until further notice.
