Bradley Ave. Bridge Reconstruction Impacts 16A and 16B Pink Routes
Riders of MTD’s 16A and 16B Pink routes will be impacted by the closure of Bradley Avenue between Crestwood Dr. and Bluegrass Ln. beginning March 20, 2019. The closure is part of the Interstate 57 bridge reconstruction project being funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation and the City of Champaign. Closures near the bridge over I-57 are expected to last approximately eight months, through November, 2019.
During the closure, MTD will service the 16 Pink route neighborhoods of Sawgrass, Boulder Ridge, West Ridge, and Fieldstone with a van operating in a continuous loop roughly every 25 minutes throughout the day. The van serving the 16 Pink route will take passengers directly to the Round Barn Road North Side transfer point.
The MTD van will operate in a loop from Round Barn Road to Country Fair Dr. to Springfield Ave. to Fieldstone Rd. to Staley Rd. to Wildflower Dr. to Switchgrass Ln. to Summer Sage Ct. to Bluegrass Ln. to Boulder Ridge Dr. to Farley Ln. to Pebblebrook Ln. to Bluegrass Ln. to Summer Sage Ct. to Switchgrass Ln. to Wildflower Dr. to Staley Rd. to Fieldstone Rd. to Springfield Ave. to Mattis Ave. to Round Barn Road.
Riders can sign up for customized Reroute Alerts by creating an account at mtd.org to be personally notified when reroutes are in effect. Riders should also keep an eye out for articles on MTD Pulse, and look for updates on Facebook and Twitter.
Upon completion of the initial construction phase, Stark Construction will have created two 11-foot traffic lanes on Bradley Ave., according to a Champaign city staff report, in addition to a six-foot bike lane and a six-foot sidewalk on each side.
