Spring Break Service Reductions Begin March 16
Spring Break is upon us! MTD will reduce service beginning Saturday, March 16, through Saturday, March 23. We’ll return to full and regular service on Sunday, March 24. The reductions are the same as those for Fall and Winter Break, and are focused on campus:
The 130 Silver Limited will operate abbreviated routing during Weekday Evenings and throughout the Weekend at 20-minute frequencies. It’s important to review the maps for the 130 Silver Limited because the route is abbreviated from the regular Silver route.
The 22/220 Illini Limited operates 30-minute frequencies and abbreviated routing during all day types. Regular Teal, Silver, and Illini routing and frequency will resume Sunday, March 24.
There will be no Late Night service (after midnight) on the 50 Green, 100 Yellow, 120 Teal, 130 Silver, and 220 Illini.
335 SafeRides operates on a reduced basis with only one van during UI Spring Break. Reservations will be made until 12:00 am. Designated pick up locations are not served. MTD is also launching a pilot of a new on-demand app, MTD Connect, targeting MTD’s 335 SafeRides service during Spring Break. Users can download the MTD Connect app for free in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, and request a SafeRide through the new app or by phone by calling 217.265.RIDE (7433). Full SafeRides service will resume the evening of Sunday, March 24 at 7:00 pm.
MTD will not operate Sunday Evening and Late Night service on March 17. There will also be no 335 SafeRides service. When the University of Illinois is not in session, MTD does not operate any Sunday Evening or Late Night service. This also affects the 50 Green, 100 Yellow, 120 Teal, 130 Silver, and 220 Illini. Fixed Route service will end on Sunday, March 17, in the 5PM hour.
Finally, the 2 Red Express trips, designated with “L” and “U” footnotes, do not operate Monday through Friday.
