Walking

Centrally located in downtown Champaign, Illinois Terminal is pedestrian friendly and our indoor and outdoor waiting areas provide comfortable and sheltered places for pedestrians to take a break or wait to catch their next mode of transportation.

Bicycling

There is ample bicycle parking on the west side of Illinois Terminal, right next to our bicycle repair station. These amenities give cyclists more mobility options. And, don’t forget, every MTD vehicle is equipped with a bike rack that holds two bicycles for convenient mixed-mode trips.

MTD Bus & Van Services

Almost every route in MTD’s fixed-route service serves Illinois Terminal. The indoor and outdoor waiting areas provide comfortable and sheltered places for passengers to wait for their connecting buses. MTD’s Customer Service Desk at Illinois Terminal can assist you in planning your trips.

Intercity Bus & Passenger Rail

Amtrak

Amtrak pulls into the second floor of Illinois Terminal six times a day with three northbound trips and three southbound trips. There is an Amtrak Customer Service Desk, as well as an electronic ticketing kiosk, which are both located on the second floor Amtrak waiting area. Book online at amtrak.com.

Burlington Trailways

For travel to Indianapolis, Bloomington-Normal, and beyond, Burlington Trailways operates charter bus services. Illinois Terminal serves as a great meeting place for large groups embarking on regional travel! Find out more at burlingtontrailways.com

Greyhound

Greyhound departs daily from MTD’s Illinois Terminal and serves locations such as St. Louis, Springfield, Peoria, Chicago and beyond. Passengers may purchase tickets at greyhound.com

C-CARTS

C-CARTS (Champaign County Area Rural Transit System) provides safe and affordable public transportation to residents and visitors across Champaign County. Fixed route and demand response services are offered to meet transportation needs outside of MTD's operating district. More here: c-carts.com.

Danville Mass Transit (DMT)

Danville Mass Transit (DMT) operates fixed-route service, paratransit service, and evening dial-a-ride trips for residents of Danville, Georgetown, Tilton, and Westville, Illinois. DMT also operates a service to and from Champaign-Urbana six days a week. It is called “10 Danville-Champaign.” You can purchase tickets for this DMT route at the Illinois Terminal Customer Service Desk. Find DMT online at rideDMT.org.

Peoria Charter

Peoria Charter operates bus charters to several Illinois locations. There are 12 daily shuttles that connect riders to Midway and O’Hare Airports and various locations in the Chicago suburbs. You can purchase charter tickets online at peoriacharter.com and at MTD’s Illinois Terminal Customer Service Desk, where we accept cash and credit cards for these tickets.

Piattran

Piattran serves all townships and villages connecting to Monticello and surrounding counties. As a demand response transportation system, Piattran does not have bus stops but instead picks you up and drops you off at your pre-arranged destination. Piattran runs from 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday thru Friday. Learn more: piattran.org

Taxi, Lyft, Uber

Area taxi companies and ride sharing services frequently serve Illinois Terminal on the west side (front) of Illinois Terminal.

Drop-off & Pick-up

Please drop-off and pick-up travelers in the west side (front) parking lot at Illinois Terminal. Increased bus and car traffic on the perimeter of Illinois Terminal is not conducive to streetside drop-offs. If someone in your party needs assistance, please inform MTD’s Customer Service Desk or ask any member of Illinois Terminal’s security team.
