MTD is the public transportation provider for Champaign, Urbana, Savoy and the University of Illinois with a FY2021 operating & capital budget of $59,907,700 and approximately 377 employees. The public may request a copy of public records maintained by MTD under the State Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 5 ILCS 140. Please submit written request by email, facsimile, or US mail. The Illinois Freedom of Information Act can be found at the Illinois Attorney General website. This website is a good source of information about the Freedom of Information Act and how to make requests.

What kinds of records can you request?

The Illinois Freedom of Information Act very broadly defines the information which you can request. It covers all public records, including electronic information.

Who do you ask?

Before you make a request, you might search MTD's website because the most popular information is available there, such as Board of Trustees agendas and minutes, and financial reporting. If you're unable to find the information you're seeking via the search feature on MTD's website and would like assistance, but not to file a formal FOIA request, please email us at foia@mtd.org. We know our website holds a lot of information and are glad to help.

How to submit a formal request for records?

FOIA requests for MTD records may be made by using MTD's downloadable FOIA form or by providing similar information in a request via email, facsimile, or US mail. Requests should be directed to MTD's Freedom of Information Act Officer, Katie Good, at:
