UIUC Learn To Ride
We are the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD), your safe public transit provider serving campus and the community. Our goals for serving campus include high frequency, easy-to-learn routing, and late night service. With a valid iCard, University of Illinois students, faculty, and staff have unlimited access to MTD bus service on 25 routes across campus and throughout the community, including fixed-route buses and on-demand van service. Whether you are hopping aboard to get to your afternoon biology class or you want to head off-campus for some shopping, MTD will get you there. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part. This tool can help. Loaded up with MTD’s top campus and community routes, you select from a list of major destinations (academic buildings, University Housing, etc.) to see which bus routes can take you from Point A to Point B. Campus Service
We have great amenities that were designed with Illini in mind, from convenient iStops, SafeRides vans, gameday TranSPORT shuttles, and support for Parkland Pathways, your iCard gives you access to a variety of service to meet your transportation needs.

MTD has a variety of passenger tools that are powered by a sophisticated real-time information system that communicates with our GPS equipped vehicles so you can receive up-to-the-minute updates on your route’s departure time.

SafeRides
SafeRides is an on-demand van service providing a safe ride for individuals (or small groups up to three people) traveling at night in areas of campus where standard bus service is unavailable. Trips must be within the designated SafeRides boundaries. (See map.)
