MTD is excited to announce our new digital storefront, launching Friday, November 14, 2025. Our passengers, from inside the community to around the world, can purchase MTD branded merchandise from the website: shop.mtd.org.

MTD joins dozens of other transit agencies, from CTA in Chicago, to LA Metro, to New York MTA, with a storefront that lets riders show their support for our small but mighty system. As the home of the University of Illinois, we welcome hundreds of thousands of students and alumni over the years. While they discover our community and rely on MTD to get around, we hope these items become a way to carry a little piece of Champaign-Urbana with them wherever they go, reminding them of fond memories they made here. For those who have spent their whole lives in Champaign-Urbana, we hope our merch celebrates the familiar routes, routines, and memories that make MTD a hometown staple.

Shop MTD is an online-only store, with all items made to order. This approach reduces overproduction, allows us to launch new designs quickly, and ensures a seamless shopping experience – whether you’re ordering a mug, tote, tee, or onesie.

The shop is launching with a few signature collections in Fall 2025. MTD Time Machine features historical logos, colors, and assets that have been especially curated to feel warm and nostalgic to fans both old and new. MTD x EKAH, in collaboration with a local talented artist, features EKAH’s colorful, imaginative animal illustrations that represent MTD’s 12 hydrogen bus animals, as well as the full scene that was featured on our 2023-2024 Maps & Schedules book. Along with those collections, MTD has designed some classic branded items that will match any season or vibe. We’ve already started dreaming up future collections – stay tuned!

Launching a merch store feels like a natural step for MTD. From Reddit threads showing appreciation for a specific Bus Operator to the hundreds of compliments that come through our Customer Service department, we are often feeling the love from and community members. A merch store allows local transit supporters a chance to wear and display our brand in a positive way.

The website host, Shopify, accepts all major digital payment methods through secure checkout including credit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. You may also create an account to receive emails about future collections and promotions or check out as a guest.
