MTD would like to remind passengers of our regularly planned upcoming summer service reductions. MTD reduces service during all University of Illinois Breaks, including Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) is rolling out a courtesy campaign about riding the bus. Launching April 7, Kindness is a Piece of Cake is a rider-focused campaign designed to make every trip safer, smoother, and more enjoyable for everyone on board.

MTD is excited to announce our new digital storefront, launching Friday, November 14, 2025. Our passengers, from inside the community to around the world, can purchase MTD branded merchandise from the website: shop.mtd.org.
August, 1 (Updated: August, 13)
At the request of Market Place Mall property owners, MTD will no longer provide fixed-route service to the Mall effective Sunday, August 10, 2025. Passengers are encouraged to review updated maps and schedules before traveling on or before August 10, 2025.
January, 17 (Updated: January, 21)
Beginning Tuesday, January 21, all MTD passengers will be upgraded to Transit Royale, the premium subscription in the Transit app. Along with this complimentary upgrade, passengers will have access to additional features, custom branding, and new customization options.

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) is thrilled to announce the final phase of service restorations, which go into effect at the start of service on Friday, August 23. This milestone marks a full restoration of MTD's pre-pandemic service levels.

MTD's Bike Box Rap video shows cyclists and motorists what to do in and near the new Bike Boxes in Campustown. New to the University of Illinois Campus in Fall 2018, Bike Boxes were installed as part of the MCORE Project and are designed to help keep cyclists safe.

Illinois Athletics & the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) are pleased to announce a free park & ride service, the 280 tranSPORT Volleyball, to shuttle fans from the Bielfeldt Administration Building to Huff Hall for every home Illini Volleyball match.

The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) announced that Illinois will move continue to advance their efforts toward bringing Division I hockey to Champaign-Urbana. The report recommends development of a new facility on the location proposed in downtown Champaign.
