Summer Service Reductions Begin | May 17 – August 21, 2025
Another summer is set to begin, and MTD would like to remind passengers of our regularly planned upcoming summer service reductions. MTD reduces service during all University of Illinois Breaks, including Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
To coincide with the University of Illinois’ Summer Break occurring May 17 – August 21, 2025, MTD is reducing scheduled service effective Saturday, May 17. There will be no service on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, or on Independence Day, Friday, July 4.
Summer service reductions will be as follows:
SafeRides Connect service does not operate during the University of Illinois summer break. The last reservations will be taken until 6AM Saturday, May 17.
Fixed Route Reductions
- 1 Yellow Hopper: Does not operate
- 2 Red: Express trips (designated with the L and U footnotes) do not operate Monday through Friday
- 12 Teal: Operating the Non-UI Weekday schedule; 20-minute frequencies
- 13 Silver: Operating the Non-UI Weekday schedule; 20-minute frequencies
- 13/130 Silver Limited: Abbreviated routing during Weekday Evenings and throughout the Weekend at 20-minute frequencies
- 22/220 Illini Limited: 20-minute frequencies and abbreviated routing during all day types
- Late Night: No Late Night (after midnight) service on the 50 Green, 100 Yellow, 120 Teal, 130 Silver Limited, and 220 Illini Limited
- Sunday Service: No Sunday Evening or Late Night service. This affects the 50 Green, 100 Yellow, 120 Teal, 130 Silver Limited, and 220 Illini Limited. Sunday service generally ends in the 6PM hour.
