Temporary Bus Stop Closures & Reroutes at Lincoln Square

Due to the replacement of water mains, the intersection of Broadway & Elm in Urbana will be closed. The closure is estimated to last 15 days and be followed by construction at the intersection of Broadway & Main.

As a result, MTD routes 2 Red, 5 and 50 Green, 6 Orange, 7 and 70 Grey, 8 Bronze, 10 Gold, 13 and 130 Silver, 110 Ruby and the Northeast Connect will be rerouted starting Monday, March 23. A reroute has been posted to ride.mtd.org/reroutes and additional information is included below.

2 Red

The 2U Red will operate normal routing through Main & Vine. Instead of turning left at Main & Broadway to serve Lincoln Square Garage East, the 2U Red will continue straight on Main and turn left to Race, then turn left at Illinois. At the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway SE Far Side, the 2U Red will switch to a 2C Red. After stopping to board and alight passengers, the 2C Red will continue on Illinois and turn left on Vine, then right on Green, and continue normal routing.

5 & 50 Green East

The 5E and 50E Green will operate normal routing through Green & Race. Instead of turning left at Race & Green to serve Lincoln Square Garage East, the 5E and 50E Green will turn right on Race, then turn left at Illinois. The 5E and 50E Green will board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway SE Far Side, before continuing down Illinois, turning right on Vine, and continue normal routing.

5 & 50 Green West

The 5W and 50W Green will operate normal routing through Vine & Illinois. Instead of continuing straight at Vine & Illinois to serve Lincoln Square Garage South, the 5W and 50W Green will turn left at Vine & Illinois and board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner. Then, the 5W and 50W Green will continue straight on Illinois, turn right on Race, then left on Green, and continue normal routing.

6 Orange East

The 6E Orange will operate normal routing through Broadway & Main. Instead of continuing straight at Broadway & Main to serve Lincoln Square Garage East, the 6E Orange will turn right on Main, then left on Race, then left on Illinois. The 6E Orange will board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway SE Far Side, before continuing down Illinois, turning left on Vine, and returning to normal routing at Vine & Main.

6 Orange West

The 6W Orange will operate normal routing through Vine & Elm. Instead of turning right at Vine & Elm to serve Lincoln Square Courthouse Side, the 6W Orange will continue straight on Vine, turn right on Illinois, and board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner. Then, the 6W Orange will continue straight on Illinois, turn right on Race, turn right on Main, turn left on Broadway, and continue normal routing.

7 & 70 Grey East

The 7E and 70E Grey will operate normal routing through Broadway & Main. Instead of continuing straight at Broadway & Main to serve Lincoln Square Garage East, the 7E and 70E Grey will turn right on Main, then left on Race, then left on Illinois. The 7E and 70E Grey will board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway SE Far Side, before continuing down Illinois, turning left on Vine, turning right on Main, and continue normal routing.

7 & 70 Grey West

The 7W and 70W Grey will operate normal routing through Vine & Elm. Instead of turning right on Elm to serve Lincoln Square Courthouse Side, the 7W and 70W Grey will continue straight on Vine, turn right on Illinois, and board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner. Then, the 7W and 70W Grey will continue straight on Illinois, turn right on Race, turn right on Main, turn left on Broadway, and continue normal routing.

8 Bronze

The 8E Bronze will operate normal routing through Main & Broadway. Instead of turning right at Broadway & Main to serve Lincoln Square Garage East, the 8E Bronze will continue straight on Main, turn right on Vine, then right on Illinois. At the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway SE Far Side, the 8E Bronze will switch to an 8W Bronze. After stopping to board and alight passengers at the temporary stop, the 8W Bronze will continue straight on Illinois, turn left on Race, and continue normal routing.

10 Gold East

The 10E Gold will operate normal routing through Race & Elm. Instead of turning left at Race & Elm to serve Lincoln Square Courthouse Side, the 10E Gold will continue straight on Race, turn left on Illinois, and board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway SE Far Side. Then, the 10E Gold will continue straight on Illinois, turn left on Vine, turn left on Main, turn right on Broadway, and continue normal routing.

10 Gold West

The 10W Gold will operate normal routing through Broadway & Main. Instead of continuing straight at Broadway & Main to serve Lincoln Square Garage South, the 10W Gold will turn left on Main, then right on Vine, then right on Illinois. The 10W Gold will board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner, before continuing down Illinois, turning right on Race, turning left at Main, and continuing normal routing.

10 Gold Hopper

The 10E Gold Hopper will operate normal routing through Broadway & Main. Instead of turning right at Broadway & Main to serve Lincoln Square Garage South, the 10E Gold Hopper will turn right on Vine, then right on Illinois. At the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner, the 10E Gold Hopper will switch to a 10W Gold Hopper. After stopping to board and alight passengers at the temporary stop, the 10W Gold Hopper will continue on Illinois, turn right on Race, left on Main, and continue normal routing.

13 & 130 Silver

The 13N and 130N Silver will operate normal routing through Broadway & Main. Instead of turning right at Broadway & Main to serve Lincoln Square Garage South, the 13N and 130N Silver will continue on Main, turn right on Vine, then turn right on Illinois. At the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner, the 13N and 130N Silver will switch to a 13S and 130S Silver. After stopping to board and alight passengers at the temporary stop, the 13S and 130S Silver will continue on Illinois, turn right on Race, left on Main, and continue normal routing.

110 Ruby North

The 110N Ruby will operate normal routing through Vine & Elm. Instead of turning right at Vine & Elm to serve Lincoln Square Courthouse Side, the 110N Ruby will continue straight on Vine, turn right on Illinois, and board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner. Then, the 110N Ruby will continue straight on Illinois, turn right on Race, turn right on Main, turn left on Broadway, and continue normal routing.

110 Ruby South

The 110 Ruby South will operate normal routing through Broadway & Main. Instead of continuing straight at Broadway & Main to serve Lincoln Square Garage East, the 110 Ruby South will turn right on Main, then left on Race, then left on Illinois. The 110 Ruby South will board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway SE Far Side, before continuing down Illinois, turning left on Vine, and returning to normal routing at Vine & Main.

Northeast Connect

Passengers using Northeast Connect to travel to and from the transfer point at Lincoln Square should continue to select Lincoln Square in the MTD Connect app. Instead of serving Lincoln Square, the Northeast Connect will board and alight passengers at the temporary stop at Illinois & Broadway NE Corner, where passengers can transfer to and from fixed-route service.
