MTD Pulse

MTD reduces service during all University of Illinois Breaks, including Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. To coincide with the University of Illinois’ Winter Break occurring December 20 – January 17, MTD is reducing scheduled service effective Saturday, December 20. MTD service will continue throughout Friday evening, December 19.

Over the holiday season, MTD does not provide evening service or SafeRides on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, or New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31.

MTD services do not operate any service on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, or on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1.

The reductions scheduled during Winter Break will be as follows:

SafeRides Winter Break Service Reductions

One SafeRides vehicle will be in operation. December 20 through January 17, SafeRides will operate from 5:00PM until 12:30AM, with final reservations taken until 12:00AM.

SafeRides service will not be available on Sundays during Winter Break, between Sunday, December 21 and Sunday, January 18.  

Fixed Route Winter Break Service Reductions

• 1 Yellow Hopper: Does not operate
• 12 Teal: Operating the Non-UI Weekday schedule; 20-minute frequencies
• 13 Silver: Operating the Non-UI Weekday schedule; 20-minute frequencies
• 22/220 Illini Limited: 20-minute frequencies and abbreviated routing during all day types
• 130 Silver Limited: Abbreviated routing during Weekday Evenings and throughout the Weekend at 20-minute frequencies
• Late Night: No Late Night (after midnight) service on the 50 Green, 100 Yellow, 120 Teal, 130 Silver Limited, or 220 Illini Limited
• Sunday Service: No Sunday Evening or Late Night service. This affects the 50 Green, 100 Yellow, 120 Teal, 130 Silver Limited, and 220 Illini Limited.
